Ratings

We ask coaches to submit a simple skill rating on their players for future seasons.  Doing this well will lead to more balanced teams than mere guesswork and player team preferences. Besides this, better understanding the talent level before the season starts will allow better usage of the trainers.  The following four-level rating is being used.  The only addition would be a separate goalkeeper rating on any player who has focused on that.

Before the end of each season, coaches should complete a player evaluation form. Age division coordinators can produce evaluation forms from eAYSO that are pre-filled with player names on their teams by doing Reports -> Team, then on the Reports: drop-down list, select Team Rating Worksheet, and on the Export To: drop-down list, select either PDF (if you don't have Excel on your computer) or Excel (if you do have Excel)..

If the age division coordinator cannot produce this format, then the coaches can use a blank valuation form (Excel). Return the ratings to the coordinator before the end of the Fall season, or by May 1 during the Spring season. Following are instructions for filling out the ratings forms.

  1. Fill in the date of the evaluation, division (Unn), Team name / number, and the coach name.
  2. Player's name: Please list in alphabetical order by last name. (check player name spelling)
  3. Player ratings - on a scale of 1 (highest) to 4 (lowest) in comparison with all others in the same division.
    • 1 - Game breaking talent
    • 2 - Strong and motivated player
    • 3 - Nice player - lacks some of the natural talent or desire to rank as a #2
    • 4 - Less experienced player, needs focused development of passing, shooting and ball handling basics.

Age division coordinators then can enter this in eAYSO by selecting Region -> Add/Move Player to Team, select division and team, then press the Edit All button at the bottom. Enter the ratings in the Nxt Yr Rtg column, then press the Update All buttom at the bottom (scroll all the way to to bottom to see this button).
